At Frabjous Catfe, we want to share the love of cats with the community to bring an understanding and adoration of these wonderful animals. This in turn helping us to be a matchmaker for those seeking to find the purrrfect companion to adopt or soak in all the goodness cats can be for kittie therapy during a visit.
Our Story
Dawn and Steve fell in love with cat cafes during their weekend getaway to Charleston, SC. They spent their time there trying to find fun places to visit, and stumbled upon a local cat cafe. From the moment they stepped in, it became Dawn's inspiration to begin her own journey into saving more lives. Dawn's lifelong passion for animals, and love of hosting, made a cafe full of cats the absolute dream. Dawn, the owner, had already been a foster with Paws For Life NC after moving to North Carolina. With this partnership, love for coffee, cats, and of course the movie “Alice in Wonderland” [Tim Burton 2010], we bring to you, Frabjous Catfé!
Where Does Frabjous Come From? What Does It Mean?
The Portmanteau word, Frabjous, is a blend between two words fabulous and joyous; In the well known world of “Alice in Wonderland” [Tim Burton 2010], there has been a word derived from when Alice slays the grueling Jabberwocky becoming known as Frabjous Day.The term Frabjous is used to describe something wonderful and a new beginning. In such success of finding a home for each of our cats, we like to think of it as a wonderful and new beginning for them as they are adopted to their furever family hence our cafe becoming known as Frabjous Catfe!
